If you’re wondering who’s in this band…

  • The lead singer, Jennifer Cella is a multi-Platinum artist and former lead vocalist of Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

  • The drummer, John Sawicki, was a star of the Broadway show STOMP.

  • The bassist, Jeff Allegue, is also a multi-Platinum award winning artist and a founding member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and former bassist for Grammy nominated singer Taylor Dayne.

  • Guitarist Ken Cino resume is quite impressive as well. He’s worked with many bands throughout the years, most notably as the guitarist for Mike DelGuidice and the Billy Joel tribute band Big Shot.

  • Rob Woebber plays Keyboards and guitar and also is the “sound designer” for Cover Girl. Additionally, he was they keyboard player in the band New Life Crisis.

According to Markos Papadatos, who wrote a recent review of the band’s recent gig on digitaljournal.com:

“In their elaborate set, The Cover Girl Band paid homage to Led Zeppelin and it was immediately followed by Pat Benatar’s “Heartbreaker,” where front-woman Jennifer Cella displayed her powerhouse pipes.”

Papadatos added “Cella killed the vocals on “What’s Up?” and she did Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain” justice. Equally compelling were her renditions of “Landslide” and Janis Joplin’s “Piece of My Heart,” where she showcased her crisp, raspy vocals.”

Papadatos went on to give the band’s performance, an “A rating”.

Check out Cover Girl as this band will be playing the well-known Long Island Venues this spring and summer.

  • Long Island’s Victory Garden Release New EP

    April 18, 2019:

The six-song EP is titled Madeleine and is available for download:

Sound Garden - Long Island band

If some of these musicians look familiar, there’s a good reason: Victory Garden actually consists of musicians from other Long Island bands: Chris and Danny Smith, who play guitar in Victory Garden, also play in Backtrack.

Mike Smith, Victory Garden’s bass player, also is a member of the band Hangman. Rounding out Victory Garden’s lineup are two members from the band Capital – Joey Saccente and Duncan MacDougal. MacDougal sings for Victory Garden, which surprisingly, is something he hasn’t done since his time in early-2000s – when he was with another Long Island hardcore band – Thieves and Assassins.

According to Mike Musilli, writing for Noecho.net “The demo absolutely pounds with melodic hardcore and punk foundations. Victory Garden pulls from so many of the best aspects of hardcore and punk while still creating a cohesive and original sound for themselves. There’s something for everyone in this first batch of songs from Victory Garden.”

Long Island’s SWIM Releases a New Song

    April 8, 2019:

The Indie pop rock band’s new single, “The Chase” is available on many digital platforms:

    Long Island Band, SWIM

The recoding, according to Broadwayworld.com is “a fun and energetic piece written collectively by the band”. Additionally the website added the song “blends together various elements of mainstream pop, rock, and indie. ‘The Chase’ is quite nostalgic, speaking of personal doubt in a relationship, while also piecing together each band members’ instrumentation to create a sleek, cool fusion.”

According to the band, “The Chase” was written by all members of the band, slowly coming together as they wrote each section of the song. What started as a pretty simple chord progression would be recorded and polished over the course of a year to morph into the version that was just released (video is below).

SWIM is an indie pop-rock band originating in Stony Brook. They were voted one of the Top 10 bands on Long Island during the summer of 2017 in Newsday’s Band Battle.

SWIM has been active at venues across Long Island since 2015, following the release of their first, self-titled EP, even performing at notable local venues like 89 North (Patchogue), Revolution (Amityville), and the Rainbow Stage at Heckscher State Park.

    Here’s SWIM’s video – “The Chase”:

    45 RPM – A Long Island Treasure

    March 26, 2019:

This incredible band is like a time machine – transporting listeners back to the 70s:

    45 rpm long island band

If you haven’t seen 45 RPM at one of their many of their local appearances, than what are you waiting for?

Just about every weekend the band can be found somewhere on Long Island, pumping out those well-known songs so many of us grew up listening to.

The band members are: Danny Calvagna – lead vocals, Linda Mackley – drums and vocals, Michael Barberich – guitar and vocals, Simon Walsh – bass and vocals, Tony Tallarico – keyboards, and Michael Hack – keyboards, guitar, and vocals.

With five outstanding vocalists, this group can nail just about any song, however they shine on those classic 70′s hits that don’t get much air play anymore.

Recently Digital Journal had this to say about the band that promises and delvers fun: “Overall, 45 RPM delivered a noteworthy opening set at Mulcahy’s. Their songs were eclectic and they took their audience back to simpler times. 45 RPM is worth seeing in concert whenever they come to town. One thing is for certain: songs from the ’70s will never go out of style, and it is great that 45 RPM breathes fresh life into them. Their set garnered two thumbs up.”
